Supporting Student Success and Accountability

The Dean of Students Office, within º£½ÇÊÓÆµâ€™s Division of Institutional Effectiveness, Student Affairs and Police, promotes responsible citizenship by protecting student rights, and maintaining the principles outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. Along with administering the student conduct process, the Dean of Students Office functions to assist in addressing Student Complaints, working with each of the Behavioral Intervention Teams, assisting with Title IX related concerns, and conflict resolution.

The Dean of Students Office encourages all students—both on-campus and online—to review and become familiar with the Student Code of Conduct and all º£½ÇÊÓÆµ policies.

The Dean of Students Office promotes the development of empowered, resilient, and empathetic students through utilizing fair and transparent processes to address student behavior and provide support.

Mission

The Dean of Students Office provides opportunities and support for students to learn good citizenship by accepting responsibility and accountability for their actions, navigating processes, and engaging with others in understanding ways. Students interacting with the Dean of Students Office should develop life-long skills in communication, decision-making, and responsibility for personal and career development.

Areas of Support and Services 

Collects and reviews reports of concerning or disruptive behavior to assess risk and coordinate appropriate, supportive responses for students in need. Concerns may range from depression, eating disorders, adjusting to college, etc. Each º£½ÇÊÓÆµ campus has a BIT team chaired by Dean of Students’ staff.

Resources and Reporting Forms

Guides students in resolving issues with university services or personnel, encouraging informal resolution first and supporting formal complaint processes when needed.

Information and Procedure

Offers alternative resolution options and support such as coaching, mediation, restorative practices, and facilitated dialogue to help students address and resolve conflicts constructively. Engaging in conflict resolution is voluntary.

Provides information, support, and reporting options related to sex-based discrimination, harassment, and misconduct, in alignment with Title IX protections. The Dean of Students Office coordinates adjudication of cases.

Compliance and Title IX

Provides data for required federal and state disclosures, including student rights information, hazing reports, and Annual Security Report.
